The Pen – Issue 13

Another couple of huge months for the Academy. The Junior Elite Team has had their introduction to the adult classes, a fitness test and have really stepped up their leadership with the other students. Tadhg has extended his training by attending Garage Jiujitsu in Sydney and competing at grappling industries comp in Melbourne recently. His brother Sy competed too, with some fantastic results, winning all his divisions. Keep up the good work boys.

We will be hosting the end of term Junior Competition this week. Even though it was a last minute decision to host this time around we look forward to a great day as always. The format will be slightly different with names, weight and ages to be provided by the coaches no later than COB Friday to ensure the event is run quickly and with minimal disruption. We always need officials and bodies to help out on the day so please nominate to volunteer as these events rely on all to be successful. Due to some kind donations all proceeds from the BQQ will be donated for the JET to travel this year. Competition fee will be $10 (payable on the day) and will commence at 9am. Tadgh’s dad, Sam will be taking photos on the day with all proceeds going to the JET program.

With the waiting list continuing to grow, Jitz kids program will be extended after the break with a new class on Thursdays at 5pm. Maria is really looking forward to having a new group working with
her to continue and expand our Jitz kids numbers. The academy continues to get fantastic feedback about our new junior coach and we thank her for the level of commitment she has shown to her
class.

New timetable commences on the 1 st of July, so double check before attending class next week. Keep an eye on social media in the coming months as more big news will be announced.
