Welcome to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Darwin, our premier BJJ Academy! Established in 2008, our academy has a unique and exciting origin story. It all began with a group of friends who were passionate about testing their martial arts skills.
Every Saturday, they would come together for some friendly sparring sessions. Curiosity led them to venture into the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Intrigued by this new martial art, they decided to take a leap of faith and participate in the QLD championships in Brisbane. With no prior exposure to BJJ competitions or knowledge of the rules, they dove into the event headfirst. Surprisingly, they not only adapted quickly but also achieved remarkable success. The experience ignited a deep interest in BJJ and left them hungry for more.
Thus, the De Been Darwin team was born. Since those early days, BJJ Darwin has come a long way. As the first BJJ club in the Northern Territory, we consider it a great privilege to have paved the way for the growth of this martial art in the region. Our commitment to promoting BJJ has opened doors to numerous opportunities. For instance, we organized the NT titles at the picturesque Mindil Beach, creating a unique outdoor experience for our participants. Additionally, we secured an NTG grant to host the prestigious Auscup at the convention center, further establishing our reputation as a leading BJJ institution. One of our greatest joys has been introducing countless individuals to the sport and supporting them on their jiu-jitsu journey.
